Raymond W. Kline 87 of Palmyra passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023. He was born on May 12, 1935 in Ravenna, Ohio, to William and Florence (Paulus) Kline. Ray grew up on a dairy farm in Rootstown. After graduating from Rootstown High School, he worked as a carpenter and retired from Atwood Construction in 1980. In 1967, Ray purchased a beef and hog farm in Palmyra. He expanded the farm over the years and used his carpentry background to construct new farm buildings. Ray loved the earth, was a tiller of the land and had a personal vendetta against weeds. He enjoyed caring for animals, tending crops and selling sweet corn on the family farm. He also enjoyed travelling with Charolette. Survivors include his wife Charolette (Westfall), children Judy (Mark) Philbrook, Nancy (Brad) Polen, Sue (Jim) Shively, Cathy (Chris) Boring and Jeff (Tami) Kline, 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandsons, brother Henry Kline, stepchildren Rodney Westfall, Derwin Westfall and Rhonda (Mark) Wesig, 6 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Norma Jane (Calvin) Kline. Calling hours will be from 4 - 7 PM Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10 AM Friday, February 10, 2023 at the funeral home with Reverend Jody Hill officiating. Burial will follow in West Cemetery in Palmyra.
