Robert Knipper went to be with the Lord and to be with his wife, Thelma (Thompson), of 74 years on July 22, 2020. A lifelong resident of Freedom Township where he farmed, had dairy and beef cows for over 80 years. He was born in Cleveland on August 21, 1923 to the late Robert B. Knipper and Ruth Becks Knipper. Robert enjoyed gardening, nature, welding and fabricating tools to make his farming easier. He always loved animals and flowers. He served on many boards, including Milk Producers and ASC. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Mantua, Ohio. He enjoyed his weekly calls to nephew Gilbert Becks and friend Dave Pifer. Robert was loved by many for his caring personality and many stories of years gone by. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Thelma on April 12, 2020, his daughter Connie Lumbert, son Allen Knipper and brothers Paul, Donald and Gilbert Becks. Survivors include his daughter Karen Martin and her husband Roy, son in law Carl Lumbert, seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. There will be no visitation or calling hours due to the coronavirus. A Private burial was held with his family at Drakesburg Cemetery in Freedom . In lieu of flowers, the family request for donations to Portage APL or St Jude's would be greatly appreciated.
