Robert William Smith

Robert Wm. Smith, 87  passed away on Monday December 13, 2021 at the Crandall Medical Center in Sebring, Ohio.  He was born October 3, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late John M. and Agnes E. (Hertel) Smith.  Bob has lived in Newton Falls, Ohio since 2007 and was formerly of Garrettsville, Youngstown and Cleveland.  He retired after 32 years from General Electric.  Bob was a member of the Stow American Legion Post 175, Masonic Temple Garrettsville Lodge 246,  Ravenna Moose 1234 and was a veteran of the US Army serving from 1953 to 1955.  Survivors include his step daughter Diane Byrnes, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, his cousin J. Wesley Hertel and many friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Janet Smith, step children Cynthia Byrnes and Russell Byrnes.  In honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held January 15th at Wayland Community Church, 6355 Wayland Road, Wayland, Ohio 44285 at 11:00 am.  In lieu of flowers, Bob wishes you to make contributions to your church or charity.  Bob and his wife Janet will be laid to rest in Monroeville Memorial Cemetery Monroeville, Indiana.  Condolences and memories of Bob may be shared at www.sscfuneralhomes.
