Sharon M (Gerren) Waesch

Sharon Marie Waesch, 74, of Rootstown passed away Friday, March 25, 2022 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born on January 25, 1948 in Ravenna to Wallace and Eva Dorett (Moore) Gerren. Sharon was a lifelong resident of Rootstown. She was a graduate of Akron University and a member of the first, four-year nursing program at Akron. She began her career at Barberton Hospital before moving to Robinson Memorial Hospital. Sharon retired from Child Health Services in Ravenna, where she touched the lives of many families and children throughout Portage County. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Norman, whom she married October 3, 1970; her mother, Dorett Gerren; her children Keith (Amanda) Waesch and Jodi (Martin) Illner; and her sister, Rita Gerren-Mottern. Most of all, Sharon loved her grandchildren Jenna, Jackson, Nathan, Ryan Lynn and Gerren. She was preceded in death by her father, Wallace Gerren.  True to her profession, she was a kind and loving person to all who knew her. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in their sports and activities. In honor of her request, cremation has taken place. Friends and family will be received on Saturday, April 2 beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 4:00 p.m. at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home in Ravenna, with Tom Wilson officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rootstown Fire Department.
