Walter Mitchell “Mitch” Tymcio, age 73, passed June 20th 2019 at his home. Born April 23rd 1946 in Akron Ohio to Walter and Betty Tymcio. Mitch lived his entire life in Rootstown on the family farm, except while serving in the 2nd and 3rd Armored Division of the United States Army. Mitch worked at the Ravenna Arsenal for 28 years in many capacities including roads and grounds, the paint shop, and heavy equipment operations. Mitch loved to spend time with his family, playing cards, camping, and watching NASCAR. He was known for his story telling and was always armed with a joke. He was an avid outdoors man and life-time member of the NRA who loved to fish and hunt. He especially enjoyed fishing in Nags Head, N.C and on Lake Erie with his son Joe and nephew Don Hanan, Jr.  He and his wife, Karen, loved to travel both in their RV and abroad. He was fortunate to have visited 49 states and 15 countries, including a recent European river cruise. Mitch was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the APCO fish and wildlife club, having served as vice president for many years. He leaves behind his partner in life and wife of 48 years Karen (nee Chalker), son Joe Tymcio, daughter Christie Tymcio (Shawn Lowther), sister Joyce Hanan, and brothers-in-law Don Hanan and Joe Voss. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.  Preceded in death by patents Walter and Betty Tymcio, sister Judith, and his faithful companion “Shadow”.   Calling hours will be at the  Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel on Friday June 28, 2019 from 5:00 pm until military honors at 6:50 PM by the US Army and Ravenna VFW.  At 7:00 PM Masonic services will be held by the F&AM Unity Lodge 12 followed by funeral  services.   A Celebration of life  picnic will be held later this summer.   In lieu of flowers donation may be made to APCO Fish and Wildlife Club Scholarship Fund (7836 State Route 44, Ravenna Ohio 44266).  Condolences and memories of Mitch may be shared with his family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com
