William Harley Hesse, Sr. 82 of Kent died Thursday November 5, 2015 at Kent Health Care . He was born November 2, 1933 in Coolidge, KS to the late John F. and Helen I. (Martin) Hesse. After graduation from Coolidge High School he married Joyce Ann Hargreaves at Raton, NM in 1953. Mr. Hesse loved his family and enjoyed family get togethers. He loved traveling with his wife in their motor home, traveling to Newfoundland and the South Pole, where he and his wife Joyce viewed glaciers, icebergs and penguins hatching their eggs. He was a born again Christian and loved the Lord Jesus. Bill attended Wichita University at Wichita, KS where he studied advertising and commercial art, while working nights at Cessna Aircraft Mfg., CO. as a riveter, building B-47 tail assembly's. Bill is a veteran of the US Army special forces during the Korean Conflict, mountain cold weather training command cadre. He loved and supported the Veteran's Administration and attended Coleman Adult Day services where he had many good friends. Bill is survived by his daughters, Denise (Ralph) Appleby of Kent, Jennifer (Jim Crum) Szyska of Bainbridge, his son William H. Hesse, II of Mantua, his grandchildren Sam (Sarah) Appleby of Mogadore, Alex Appleby of Ravenna, Bill M. (Allison) Hesse of Brecksville, Sarah (Craig Hoover) Szyska of Kent and his brother Larry Joe Hesse of Ainsworth, NE. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Daniel J. Appleby, his brothers John Henry and Robert Lee Hesse. Memorial calling hours will be held Tuesday November 10, 2015 from 10:00 Am until time of memorial services at 11:00 AM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Streetsboro Chapel with Pastor Wally Kukuk officiating. Interment will follow the services at Aurora City Cemetery Aurora, Ohio. The family requests memorials to the Salvation Army Ravenna Corp 268 W.
